The Media Perspective on Saudi Arabia’s Economic Policies Discussed at the Saudi Media Forum

Amid the major economic transformations taking place in Saudi Arabia, media is no longer just a platform for reporting numbers and projects—it has become a key player in shaping the economic narrative of Vision 2030 and enhancing public understanding of these changes.
During a panel discussion titled "The Media Perspective on Saudi Arabia’s Economic Policies: Transformation for a Global Vision", H.E. Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Development Fund, emphasized the critical role of media in translating economic shifts into compelling stories that resonate with both local citizens and global investors.
"The media must take ownership of this story, simplify it, and contribute to its realization," Al-Tuwaijri stated, underscoring the responsibility of media professionals to communicate economic transformations in a clear and accessible manner, free from technical and financial jargon.
He further explained that every major economic project comes with challenges and opportunities, and that decisions made today are shaping Saudi Arabia’s future for decades to come. "We are working to ensure that transformation has a tangible impact, and this is where the role of the media becomes crucial—to turn this transformation into real stories that people can relate to," he added.
Al-Tuwaijri highlighted that Saudi Arabia’s economy is no longer solely dependent on oil, but is now driven by investments, technology, entrepreneurship, and renewable energy, offering new opportunities for innovative media storytelling.
He also pointed out that conveying these changes effectively requires creative media approaches capable of simplifying complex economic data and making it relatable. He noted that the Kingdom operates under three key principles: impact and achievement, institutional work, and continuous follow-up—an approach championed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This, he emphasized, necessitates a strong media role in presenting the Kingdom’s vision to the world with clarity and impact.
"In the Saudi Media Forum, it became evident that media’s role extends beyond news reporting; it is about simplifying ideas, crafting narratives that inspire audiences, and providing a forward-looking perspective that reflects deep economic and social transformations," Al-Tuwaijri stated. He also stressed that the real challenge is not just in media presentation, but in its ability to reach different segments of society—especially the youth, who make up the majority of the population.
He concluded by emphasizing that a partnership between media and the economic sector is essential in delivering strategic long-term plans to the public. These plans, he said, should not remain as government documents but must evolve into a shared vision that every citizen embraces and experiences in their daily lives.
