The "Leadership in a Changing Media Landscape" session at the Saudi Media Forum explored the evolving concepts of media and the challenges posed by rapid transformations. The session featured prominent media figures, including Ahmed Al-Muslimani, President of the National Media Authority in Egypt; Dr. Saad Bin Tefla, Former Minister of Information in Kuwait; and Karim Hammadi, President of the Iraqi Media Network.
Dr. Saad Bin Tefla emphasized that the concept of media has undergone a complete transformation since the digital revolution. He highlighted the increasing challenges posed by this evolution, particularly in verifying fake news, which has become a significant issue for audiences.
Karim Hammadi noted that the current media landscape no longer operates under traditional leadership but rather strategic management, where individuals oversee operations in a dynamic and challenging environment. He stressed the importance of media leaders understanding and adapting to these transformations.
Ahmed Al-Muslimani pointed out a major challenge in the industry: the definition of a journalist and media professional. With the rise of social media, anyone can claim to be a journalist, whereas in the past, clear regulations and requirements defined the profession.
The Saudi Media Forum, currently taking place in Riyadh, serves as a key platform for global media leaders, experts, and researchers to engage in discussions and share insights. The forum attracts a significant number of media professionals from around the world, aiming to keep pace with media advancements, explore modern trends, and exchange expertise to elevate content creation and media influence.
