Following the Field and the Stands, Global Sports Journalism Takes Center Stage at the Saudi Media Forum

A different sports aura on Saudi fields, eye-catching stands, unique fans, and a green pitch filled with stars – these factors have recently drawn global sports journalism to shine a spotlight on Saudi stadiums and their stands. From the surprise of the Saudi national team against Argentina in the last World Cup to the present, international sports media has dedicated space in its pages and on its websites to discuss Saudi sports. Gianni Merlo, the President of the International Sports Press Association, and José Félix Díaz, Editor-in-Chief of Marca newspaper, choose the Saudi Media Forum as the platform to discuss the global changes in sports media.

Under the theme “Saudi Sports: Grand Transformations from Local to Global,” Gianni Merlo, President of the International Sports Press Association, and José Félix Díaz, Editor-in-Chief of Marca newspaper, will discuss Saudi Arabia’s experience in leveraging sports events. They will explore the symbiotic relationship between sports and media, the soft power it yields, and the role of sports media coverage in shaping national identity and international perceptions during sessions at the Saudi Media Forum in Riyadh.

The forum sessions will cover various media domains, including sports, economy, entertainment, tourism, and their relationship with the applications of intelligence and media practices. Additionally, the forum will address numerous work approaches for media professionals and enthusiasts.
